COLORADO SPRINGS — Three groups worked together Saturday in Colorado Springs to hand out hundreds of Thanksgiving baskets to families at the Hillside Community Center.
Organizers said the event sees more support each year and they're happy to be able to help those in need this time of year.
"We're very proud to be able to do this, to see the smiles on their faces, and they bring smiles to our faces as well,' said Bill Gamble, Chair of Alpha Phi Alpha Community Group.
"This time of the year is rough on a lot of people, so to have people come forward and to be able to provide for the people in this manner is truly a pleasure and an honor," said Joseph Alvarez, Senior Warden of Pikes Peak Lodge #5.
The event has taken place since the late 60s. Each year, different groups step up to help with distribution.
