COLORADO SPRINGS — For one day you and your family can enjoy the sunshine and silence throughout Garden of the Gods because Oct. 6 is Motorless Morning in the park.

From 6 a.m. to noon, cyclists and walkers will have roads and trails all to themselves.

This event start in April 2018 with an estimated attendance of 500 people. In April of this year, the number increased to about 3,500.

Since its inception, the parks department said they met with members of cyclist groups, skaters and hikers/joggers to help promote a safer environment.

John Stark, Garden of the Gods manager, said Sunday's event will have slow zones and greater volunter presence because of the input from this meeting.

During the event, visitors can park their vehicles at the Garden of the Gods Visitor and Nature Center at 1805 30th St., the Garden of the Gods Trading Post at 324 Beckers Lane, Manitou Springs, or the temporary parking lot at Rock Ledge Ranch Historic Site at the corner of 30th Street and Gateway Road.
