Fremont County Sheriff: Sexually Violent Predator moving to Penrose

FREMONT COUNTY — The Fremont County Sheriff's Office issued a release Monday regarding a sexually violent predator moving to the county.

The Sheriff's Office said the purpose of the notification is to enhance public safety and protection. Vigilantism, or use of this information to harass, threaten, or intimidate the offender, the offender's significant others, or the community notification team is criminal behavior and will not be tolerated.

The individual, identified as 54-year-old Jessie R. Yerton, is moving to 608 S. Broadway in Penrose, Colorado, according to the Sheriff's Office.

Yerton's sex-related convictions include, Sexual Assault - 10-year age difference, according to the Sheriff's Office. His conviction occurred in 2009.

He is described as a Hispanic male, standing 5'11" tall and weighing 190 pounds. He has brown hair and brown eyes and also has tattoos on his chest, right leg, and left cheek. He also has pierced ears. His picture can be seen above.

The Sheriff's Office release said that Yerton has been determined to present a high potential to re-offend and there is subject to community notification regarding his residence. The Sheriff's Office has no legal authority to direct where a sex offender may live. Unless court restrictions exist, they are constitutionally free to live wherever they choose.

Yerton is clear of wants/warrants and is supervised by Adult Parole.
