COLORADO SPRINGS — If you and your family live on the southeast of Colorado springs and could use some food assistance, the Solid Rock Community Development Corporation will be hosting a free food distribution at their food pantry (3219 S Academy Boulevard) on Friday afternoon from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m.

Solid Rock CDC will be handing out between 15,000 - 20,000 lbs of food at their drive-thru distribution, which is enough to fill 200 to 300 cars.

This pantry is the only one located on the southeast side of Colorado Springs and it opened back in March as a response to the pandemic and the greater need for food assistance.
Most of the food here comes from Care and Share, but besides from the non-perishables, Solid Rock CDC also buys fresh food to distribute like meats and veggies.

Anyone who could use the help is welcome to come out - no questions asked.

The pantry is run by volunteers from different churches and organizations. On Friday, between 10 and 15 volunteers will be helping to make this drive-thru distribution possible. Of course, they could always use more volunteers.

If you'd like to help this pantry continue their mission, you can do so by signing up to volunteer online or making a monetary donation at SolidRockCDC.com. Monetary donations help to do things buy fresh food and pay for clean-up supplies.
