Every weekend is a great weekend to do that, but this coming it will be free.

Colorado Parks and Wildlife's annual Free Fishing Weekend will be on June 6 - 7 this year. On these two days, neither a fishing license nor habitat stamp is required. Every other day of the year, both are required to fish in Colorado for most individuals.

CPW wants to remind anglers that although a license is not required, all other rules and regulations apply. Anglers should consult the Colorado Fishing Brochure for specific regulations and restrictions.

CPW offers a number of resources to help Colorado anglers.

In addition to Free Fishing Weekend, the CPW Southeast Region Office in Colorado Springs is also giving away 300 fishing poles to area youth. Starting at 3 p.m. on Friday, June 5, 300 rods/reels will available to the first 300 youth that visit the Southeast Region office locate at 4255 Sinton Rd. in Colorado Springs.

CPW said this is a drive-thru event and a child must be in the vehicle to get a free pole. The giveaway ends at 5 p.m.
