FORT CARSON — You may hear gunfire and see more emergency personnel if you live near Fort Carson Wednesday morning, according to the post's press release.

Starting at 9 a.m., the post will be testing their emergency response and recovery systems in an active shooter situation.

This full-scale training exercise will last several hours near the intersection of Barkeley Avenue and Hogan Street.

Gunfire during the training will be coming from blank ammunition. The post asks community members to not call 911 to report gunfire unless there is an actual emergency.

Law enforcement, fire and emergency services, and the establishment of the Emergency Operations Center will be part of the exercise.

This exercise is a culmination of smaller exercises that took place throughout the year.
