COLORADO SPRINGS — This weekend marks the start of the El Paso County Fair.
The the fair gets started on Saturday, July 13 and runs through July 20 at the Fair and Event Center in Calhan.
“The 114th edition of the El Paso County Fair will feature amazing entertainment options, many of which are included with daily admission,” said Stacy Starr, Fairgrounds Program Coordinator.
Some of the highlights in 2019, the Camel Kingdom and Reptile Adventures. At Camel Kingdom you can learn more about dromedary camels and reptile adventures will feature an 18-foot python, 90 pound monitor lizard and a 100-year-old alligator snapping turtle.
Other entertainment includes the car show, ranch rodeo, petting zoo and the rides.
“If you want to be a part of the Fair, there are always fun contests to enter, Texas Hold ‘Em, Garza Farms Dill Pickle Eating Championship, Rizuto’s Ice Cream Eating Contest, Amazing Kids, and the Decorated Stroller Parade,” Starr said.
Tickets are $7 for adults, $5 for seniors, $3 for kids and free for kids younger than three years old.
Active military and veterans can get free admission on July 13, and El Paso County residents can get in free on Monday, July 15.
