EL PASO COUNTY — The El Paso County Sheriff's Office told residents in the Widefield area to secure their homes and stay away from doors and windows Thursday night due to a barricaded suspect in the area.

The man at the center of the standoff was later identified as Justin Romero, who was a suspect for felony and misdemeanor crimes.
The Sheriff's Office said Romero was given orders to surrender, and he refused. About four hours later, he tried to escape out of a window but was caught, and was arrested at around 9:45
Romero was booked into the El Paso County Jail for several charges including violation of a restraining order, harassment, and felony vehicular eluding.
