COLORADO SPRINGS — After months of waiting and a slight delay- it's finally here. Something that's been a long time coming in an area known as a small food desert in Colorado Springs.
Bread and Butter Neighborhood Market opened its doors Friday morning. The need for a grocery store downtown, isn't something lost on the women who started it.
"We wanted to be a part of bringing that to downtown, we wanted to be a part of making that happen," Stacy Poore, Co-owner said, "we spent a lot of time talking to people about what they wanted we spoke to a lot of small businesses about what worked and what didn't."
The pandemic provided some supply chain challenges for Poore and her business partner Aubrey Day. With months of work to get everything up and running the pair along with about a dozen employees are now up and running.
The store focuses heavily on locally made and grown products from all parts of southern Colorado. Grand opening festivities will be held on Sept. 11th.
