COLORADO SPRINGS — The City of Colorado Springs is reporting that a well known downtown sculpture has been vandalized.

The city said that someone climbed on the "I Have Been Dreaming to be a Tree" sculpture and one of the antlers was damaged to the point that a portion of the sculpture had to be removed.

For those, like most of us, who don't know what the "I Have Been Dreaming to be a Tree" sculpture is, it is the sculpture that sits in the median at Cascade and Colorado Ave. that looks like a deer with antlers that are tree branches.

The city is asking for the public's help in identifying the vandals that damaged the sculpture.

Reports with pertinent information can be place via, https://coloradosprings.gov/police-department/page/report-crime-online .

If you see vandalism in progress, call 911.

The city said donations to support sculpture repair can be made to the Pioneers Museum. You can specify that you are donating to the deer sculpture and your donation will only be used for that purpose.

The city also said that anyone who wishes to express condolences or appreciation to the artist can send notes, comments, and letters to claire@downtowncs.com.
