COLORADO SPRINGS, Colorado — Administrators in Academy School District 20 announced late Sunday evening that Douglass Valley Elementary School would be temporarily closed on Monday, September 21, after a student at the school tested positive for COVID-19.

The District then announced Monday that the school would reopen Tuesday following contract tracing and deep cleaning/sanitization.

Based on contact tracing, 49 individuals will remain in quarantine, the District said. Those individuals have been contacted directly.

School leaders learned about the positive test late in the evening Sunday.

The district continues to ask both staff and students to conduct a daily symptom check before coming to school. If a student or staff member is displaying any symptoms, please stay home.
