COLORADO SPRINGS — The Springs Rescue Mission says things are calm at the facility despite the cold, winter weather.

Even though occupancy numbers are around 400, the shelter still has room. Their newly expanded campus helps provide shelter for anyone who needs it.

"We do everything to make sure people are inside, so we add a lunchtime meal so they don't have to travel anywhere for lunch. We open up different buildings as the need is there," said Terry Anderson.

The shelter is also extending its hours and even offering shelter for pets.

More than 300 people spent most of Tuesday at the shelter's day center.
