Fire near Florissant Fossil Beds contained to 1 acre

PARK COUNTY — Fire crews responded to a fire near the Florissant Fossil Beds Tuesday afternoon.

According to the Teller County Sheriff's Office, the fire was on the west side of the fossil beds, south of Lake George.

The Forest Service said the fire was dubbed the "Grape Creek Fire" and only grew to 1 acre in size. It was caused by lightning.

Shortly after 5 p.m., the Teller County Sheriff's Office reported the fire had been contained.
