COLORADO SPRINGS — Crews responded to a house fire in the Security-Widefield area early Friday morning.
Security firefighters on scene told our News5 crew that the home off Harvard Street is a total loss due to extensive damage with no injuries reported. The department responded after receiving the call around 3:20 a.m.
"Deputies were on scene almost instantaneously, and reported heavy fire through the roof of the original structure with extension to the houses on both sides," Battalion Chief James Chapman with the Security Fire Department said.
The fire did spread to nearby homes, but Chapman said neighboring houses are still liveable.
As of 6:45 a.m., the street was closed while crews continue putting out hotspots.
This is a developing story.
