PUEBLO — A Pueblo couple no longer has a home, after a fire destroyed it on Christmas morning. Now, they are left staying with family and picking up the pieces, but the community wants to make sure they know they're not alone.

Joshua DeGrado and Ruby Beltramo said they were lucky to have their friends staying at their house that night because they woke up first when the fire started. DeGrado said it started in the chimney and spread from there.

He said they had bought the house only two months ago, located near 40th Lane and Highway 50 in the Mesa. Despite the destruction, he said they are lucky to be alive.

"Huge blessing, somebody is watching over us," DeGrado said.

Friends of Beltramo set up a GoFundMe account for the couple, which has raised over $9,000 at this point.

"Whenever someone's down and out they're not necessarily asking for a helping hand, but they need one," said Riley Lambert, one of the organizers of the GoFundMe.

The goal of the fundraiser is $15,000. If you would like to help, visit this link.
