Cheyenne Mountain Zoo keeping animals busy

COLORADO SPRINGS — Like most zoos nationwide, Cheyenne Mountain Zoo remains closed as the COVID-19 pandemic continues.

But those who care for animals at the zoo are still on the job.

Because the animals are not seeing as many people as they're used to, zookeepers are keeping them busy to make up for the lack of thousands of visitors of the park.

They say that helps with the overall mental health of the animals, and keeps them ready for the eventual return of zoo visitors.

The lack of visitors also allows zookeepers to let some animals visit areas of the park they normally don't see.

Keepers say letting the animals see each other also helps with their mental health.
