COLORADO SPRINGS — Colorado Springs Police are investigating after a car crashed into a building Tuesday in Old Colorado City.

The accident happened near the intersection of W. Colorado Ave. and 32nd St.

According to police, the vehicle was traveling around 100 miles per hour on Colorado when the driver lost control. The car hit a transformer, then went through a fence before crashing through the front of Garden of the Budz, a medical marijuana dispensary.

Police said the man who was driving the car has life-threatening injuries. The female passenger has unknown injuries. Firefighters had to remove the roof of the car to get the two people out.

The building sustained significant damage and firefighters had to deploy supports to maintain the structure of what was left of the building.
