COLORADO SPRINGS — As teachers and administrators still try to navigate through the challenges of online learning, one school district is reminding parents that it's still important to try to keep their child's lunch hour normal.

D11 officials and say since school has started back up they have had zero participation in their breakfast and lunch program.

Officials say part of the problem is parents are so busy. The adults are starting to go back to work and their kids are back in school. D11 says their school kitchens are still open! Parents can still come by and get breakfast and lunch.

D11 has grab and go sites at 30 schools. Parents can drive up, give their child's name, and then they can get breakfast and lunch for their kids, and take it home for them to enjoy.

"I believe that there is somewhat of a lack of communication towards our families, but if you are a D11 student you can come to any of our schools and get a meal, and still have that option available for families to feed their children,"said Ken Wehri, director of Food and Nutrition Services for the district.

Drop off times may vary, so it's best to call your child's school ahead of time.
