Shawnee Peak Fire burning in remote wilderness area near Bailey
The blaze is burning in timber about five or six miles southwest of Bailey. The fire's containment is zero at this time and two additional hand crews are heading to the scene this morning. As of Tuesday, the fire has reached a size of 40 acres.
Colorado Springs City Council to test meeting time change
The council will test the time change in a pilot program set to run from September through December. The announcement came as council's Aug. 27 meeting was moved ahead from 1 p.m. to 8 a.m., while Council President Richard Skorman closed off public comment.
Suspect identified in attack on woman at Bear Creek Park
Colorado Springs Police has identified the suspect accused of assaulting a woman at Bear Creek Park as Gabriel Valencia. The victim sustained serious bodily injury as a result of the assault on June 27. DNA was recovered from the weapon and used to identify the suspect, 33-year-old Valencia.

Cloudy and cool today before some big heat on Thursday
The clouds will stay fairly thick against the mountains, foothills, and adjacent plains for the first half of the day, with breaks in the clouds arriving through the afternoon. Rain chances are pretty slim today, but a cold front this afternoon could spark a few isolated showers against the mountains.
