The Paris Olympics have officially kicked off! You can keep up with all of your Olympics content here on KOAA-TV.

Team USA was off to a strong start to the games for the first weekend, bringing in 12 medals throughout the opening weekend of the games.

Those medals all have ties to Olympic City USA as according to the city those medals were won by athletes who have worked and trained in Olympic City USA.

Below you can see which sports Team USA has won medals in and which athletes competed to bring the medals home.

Swimming

So far, Team USA has dominated in swimming bringing home 28 medals. Of these, eight are gold, 13 are silver, and seven are bronze.

Fencing

The fencing competition led to an interesting final in the women's individual foil as it was Team USA's Lauren Scruggs up against Team USA's Lee Kiefer. The two battled it out with Lee Kiefer taking the Gold and Scruggs winding up with the Silver.

Gymnastics

In what has been considered a redemption arc for Team USA, the women's and men's teams both came to Paris with big expectations. Clinching a medal for the first time since 2008, the men's team secured bronze. The women's team came looking to return to the podium and they did, getting revenge and gold after the Tokyo 2020 silver finish.
