COLORADO SPRINGS – An arrest has been made in a hit-and-run crash that left a motorcyclist seriously hurt last month.

39-year-old Brian A. Abeyta is facing numerous charges, including leaving the scene of an accident involving serious injuries.

On April 8, Springs police were called to the scene of a vehicle versus a motorcycle crash at the intersection of E. Fillmore St. and N. Cascade Ave. When they arrived, police learned one of the vehicles left the scene. The motorcyclist was transported to a nearby hospital with serious injuries.

The Major Crash Team unit determined that Abeyta was traveling westbound on E. Fillmore St when he tried to make a left turn to go southbound on N. Cascade Ave. By doing so, police say Abeyta turned in front of the motorcyclist going eastbound, causing the accident.

The investigation is ongoing.
