ASPEN – Couples who planned to have their weddings at Maroon Bells in the next several weeks are now scrambling to find new locations for their nuptials.

Crews had hoped to have the access roads to the iconic Colorado site cleared of avalanche debris in time to open Wednesday, but that’s not going to happen.

According to the Aspen Times, the US Forest Service has now delayed the opening of the Maroon Bells Scenic Area until June 15, as crews continue work to remove debris.

Aspen officials said more than a dozen weddings were planned between May 27th and June 14th at the amphitheater and East Maroon Portal picnic site.
