The weather may still feel like it’s winter out there, but we are about to move into full-fledged wildfire and flash flood season. So, the local office of emergency management continues to hold public information forums so that folks across the Pikes Peak region can protect themselves, their families and property from these catastrophic natural disasters.

The idea is to better inform everyone so that we are not caught off guard, which is generally what happens because we are not always focused on the weather. Another emergency preparedness meeting will take place on May 16th. Gordon Brenner a recovery coordinator for the OEM told News5 that they want to reach out, saying “‘We can talk about what you can do now, what you need to know and what can happen in your neighborhood or at your house.”

Several representatives from several local agencies will be on hand for the presentations and to answer any questions you might have. Again, the meeting is Thursday, May 16th from 6 to 8pm at Gold Camp Elementary in Colorado Springs.
