PUEBLO – The Pueblo Police Department wants more money to enforce marijuana laws.

The request comes after the department says it saw a spike in illegal marijuana operations in the city from last year to this year.

That includes the department executing an operation that busted multiple grows in January.

“It is manpower intensive to do these operations and it cost us a lot to have these illegal grows happening,” said Sgt. Franklyn Ortega.

The money would come from the state, but the city would have to sign off on it first.
