COLORADO SPRINGS – The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office confirms the person shot by police during an officer-involved shooting in the southeast part of the city has died.

The name of the person has not been released. The sheriff’s office is handling the investigating per protocol involving these types of incidents. No details are available about the circumstances leading up to the shooting.

There was a large presence from CSFD to fight the fire inside the two-story building on the corner of Hancock Expressway and Laramie Drive.  According to the fire department, the majority of the damage was confined to just one apartment, but 70 people were unable to stay in their apartments overnight.

The unit where the fire took place is the same unit where two Colorado Springs Police officers were involved in the shooting.  Both are now on paid administrative leave during the investigation.
