COLORADO SPRINGS – Colorado Springs Utilities (CSU) customers are getting some relief when it comes to their monthly bills.

Tuesday, the city council approved a decrease in the cost of electricity and natural gas for customers.

The typical household can now expect to save $10.24 on their bill each month.

CSU said this is just one of the perks of having utilities through a city-owned company.

“This past winter we experienced some of the highest natural gas rates in recent history,” said Natalie Eckhart with CSU. “Those prices coming out of the heating season have come down, so we’re happy to pass those decreases along to our customers.”

The lower prices will go into effect on May 1st.
