CROWLEY COUNTY – An enticing offer is helping with trash clean-up along roadways in Colorado’s, Crowley County. “Yesterday I had seven people come in and want to start cleaning up,” said Crowley County Chamber Treasurer, Holly McCustion.  Chamber leaders came up with the idea of offering $75 per mile of clean road in the rural county where the ratio of people to road miles weighs heavily on the side of roads.

“I can always use a few bucks,” said one of the workers named Chris. Organizers are impressed with how much trash Chris is clearing from along roads. They have also noticed how fast he moves. Chris knows, the more miles he clears, the more he makes.

It is good money with a short window of opportunity. There is a set number of days for clean-up in April. It is a spring cleaning to get the county ready for summer visitors.
