COLORADO SPRINGS – The Colorado Springs Police Department announced the retirement of Public Information Officer Lieutenant Howard Black Thursday.
In a farewell message on its Facebook page, the department said Black worked in almost every division of the department, including assignments with the Domestic Violence, Metro Vice Narcotics and Intelligence and Special Victims units.
“Whether it was in his uniform, serving on a community board, or being a loving husband, father, and grandfather at home, Lieutenant Black has excelled in every role he has ever faced.”
Black served with CSPD for 36 years, joining the department in 1983. Lieutenant James Sokolik is now serving as the department’s public information officer.
