PUEBLO COUNTY – Colorado State Patrol is investigating after a hit and run crash left a pedestrian seriously injured.

According to CSP, around 10:45 Friday night five people were walking on the right shoulder of Eastbound Highway 50C, near milepost 7 in Pueblo County.

A male in the group walked into the traffic lane and was hit by a white 2004 Chevy Venture van.

The pedestrian, identified as 34-year-old David Laurel of Avondale, was taken to Parkview Medical Center with life-threatening injuries. He was later taken to Denver Health.

Troopers located the van Saturday and impounded it. Troopers say charges will be filed on the driver, 59-year-old Mark Steir of Pueblo.

The crash is still under investigation, but Troopers say drug and alcohol use are suspected factors.
