Crash

LAS ANIMAS COUNTY – Two people suffered serious injuries in a rollover crash near Trinidad Thursday afternoon.

State Patrol said  65-year-old Edward Davis and  55-year-old Karen Davis from Moffat were in a 1997 Jeep Wrangler traveling south on I-25 near mile marker 9 in the right lane.  CSP said Edward Davis was behind the wheel when he reacted late to a disabled vehicle that was partially blocking the right lane of the highway. Troopers said he overcorrected and traveled off the left side of the road, causing the vehicle to roll.

Troopers said the Jeep rolled over and slid on its top until it stopped in the right shoulder of the highway. Both were transported to the Mt. San Rafael Hospital in Trinidad before being taken to a Colorado Springs hospital.

Troopers said Edward Davis suffered serious bodily injuries as a result of the crash. Karen Davis suffered injuries that are considered serious, but not life-threatening.
