COLORADO SPRINGS – Multiple people were taken to the hospital after police said someone ran a red light and caused a crash at a busy Colorado Springs intersection.

Police said it happened a little after 6 p.m. Thursday at the intersection of N. Academy Boulevard and Dublin Boulevard. Officers said a total of three cars were involved in the crash when a driver who was turning left from NB Academy onto WB Dublin ran a red light.

Police said “several people” were taken to the hospital after the crash.

Red light cameras will be active at that intersection later this spring. CSPD also tweeted that cameras at two intersections in town recorded 62 violations in only 11 hours since they became active.

As part of a 30-day warning period at those intersections, only drivers who enter the intersection after the light has turned red will be ticketed.
