FORT CARSON – A ribbon cutting ceremony Thursday at Fort Carson, for a first-of-its-kind command.

The headquarters for the 1st Space Brigade officially moved to Fort Carson last month to meet the growing needs of the command’s Army Space Soldiers.

While its home is in Fort Carson, the command has personnel around the world keeping an eye on service members in the field.

“I think there’s 19 different locations around the globe that we have soldiers providing space support to the warfighter,” said Col. Eric Little, Commander of the 1st Space Brigade.

The Brigade’s mission includes satellite communications and missile warning.

The 1st Space Brigade includes the 1st and 2nd Space Battalion, and the 53rd Signal Battalion.
