PUEBLO – A popular baseball complex in Pueblo is not toxic and safe to play on.

This news comes after the Environmental Protection Agency’s reports show no toxic materials were found on the fields.

News 5 reported last November that the EPA was studying the area for lead and arsenic since it is close to the Colorado smelter site.

“It is great, it is really fantastic to have an amazing team of people that are working on the sampling and clean up and our contractors who are working to make this happen and helping make this a healthier community,” said Sabrina Forest of the EPA.

The EPA is i the middle of inspecting and cleaning up properties where high levels of lead and arsenic were found. The group should be done cleaning the smelter site area by 2023.
