Five in custody, lock down lifted for neighbors in Colorado Springs

COLORADO SPRINGS – Five people are in custody after a string of robberies and carjackings in Colorado Springs.

Two of those in custody had outstanding warrants and weren’t involved with the initial incident.

Police say a teenage girl showed up at a the hospital with an apparent gun shot wound, police say no shots were fired by officers.

Initially officers thought the teenager with a gunshot wound was related to the incident, they later said she was not involved.

Officers began looking for a few stolen vehicles Friday night, Sunday morning an officers spotted one of the stolen vehicles which began a chase.

They later discovered additional stolen cars, the teens inside got out and ran away, ending up in underground tunnels and sewer systems.

According to police, one officer does have minor injuries from looking for the suspects.

Police tell News5 they’ve been looking for the suspects all weekend, when they figured out the area three of the suspects were in, an alert was sent out to neighbors in the area of East Platte Avenue and Chelton Road.

The lockdown is now lifted.
