LAS ANIMAS COUNTY- The Board of County Commissioners in Las Animas County wants to see Governor Polis veto a bill that could have a big impact on the oil and gas industry in the state.
SB19-181 was introduced by Senate Democrats and received criticism for how quickly it made its way through the legislature.
At a meeting on Wednesday, Las Animas County Commissioners presented a letter they will send to Governor Polis asking for his support to oppose the bill.
In the letter, commissioners say the bill would have a “devastating impact on counties, school districts, and special districts, and other agencies that depend on oil and gas property and severance tax revenues.”
