COLORADO SPRINGS – Flags all across the state of Colorado will be flying at half-staff starting Wednesday in honor of U.S. Army Sgt. 1st Class Will Lindsay.

Governor Jared Polis has ordered all U.S. and Colorado flags to be lowered to half-staff statewide on all state-owned facilities from sunrise on Wednesday until sunset on Tuesday, April 9.

33-year-old Lindsay from Cortez, Colorado died in the line of duty on March 22 after sustaining injuries while conducting dismounted maintenance operations. He was serving in support of Operation Freedom’s Sentinel in Afghanistan.

Lindsay was assigned to a battalion in Fort Carson. His body will return to Colorado Springs Wednesday and the unit memorial service will be held April 9.
