CAÑON CITY – It was a big day for a historic school in Cañon City Friday.
“This is huge for our kids,” said Larry Oddo, school board president.
The middle school, named after the city, broke ground on a new addition to the near 100 year old building. The new addition made possible by a bond measure that passed in 2017.
A community center, health care center will be built where the school is.
“Close to 50 million dollars going into this community in construction costs to build a state of the art facility for our kids,” Oddo said.
The school board hopes to have the project by next fall.
