Posted

EL PASO COUNTY – The last phase of development for “Mary’s Home,” a shelter that provides life-changing services for homeless women and children is underway.

A family services center is going up next tot he family life center and living quarters.

The facility started four-years-ago as an alternative to other shelters in El Paso County.

“Mary’s Home is a program that offers complete life skills training,” said Executive Director, Brenda Rogers. “We’re a career foundation development program. We are faith-based, so moms are in a structured program. We’re long term, four to five years.”

Currently, the home houses 12 families but receives 400 requests a year.

Mary’s Home is made possible through HBA Cares, the philanthropic branch of the Housing and Building Association of Colorado Springs.
