COLORADO SPRINGS – State Patrol Corporal Daniel Groves was killed during Wednesday’s blizzard while helping a stranded driver on the side of the road.
Colorado State Patrol said another driver was going too fast and crashed into him on I-76.
Chief Matthew Packard said Cpl. Groves was dependable and dedicated.
“And the very finest of Colorado stepped up that day and tried to help Dan. Some of them wore this uniform, some of them wore everyday clothes,” Chief Packard said during a press conference.
CSP hoping a Good Samaritan who rendered aid will come forward.
Chief Packard said this death was tragic and preventable, reminded everyone to “move over” for law enforcement on the road and be safe drivers.
The deadly event is still under investigation.
