Pueblo police investigating two puffer thefts

PUEBLO – A reminder from Pueblo police to never leave your car running unattended, after two different puffer car thefts.

Police say in both cases, one on the east side and one on the south side of Pueblo, the victims left their vehicles running with the doors locked.

They say the suspects broke a window and stole the vehicles.

According to Coloradan’s Against Auto Theft, 97 percent of car thieves are charged with additional violent crimes.

Additionally, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, 40-50 percent of vehicle theft is due to driver error, including leaving doors unlocked and keys in the ignition or on the seats.
