COLORADO SPRINGS – A weekend full of activities across Southern Colorado is highlighted by the annual St. Patrick’s Day parade in downtown Colorado Springs on Saturday at noon. But, there is so much more in store. You can still sign up the day of the parade for the 5-K run before the parade. However, the 50-K bike ride has been canceled after Wednesday’s storm damaged part of the route through Garden of the Gods.
If you were planning on participating in the bike race, you can still get some exercise in by heading to Tejon and Dale at 11 a.m. and be a part of the parade. The run begins at 10, registration begins at 9 at Acacia Park, and you can sign up on Saturday, it will cost you 35 dollars.
If you are one of the thousands headed downtown to view the parade at noon, remember there are going to be all kinds of traffic issues you will encounter. Streets parallel to Tejon, probably a block deep at least, will be blocked off and there is no parking allowed so that parade participants can get set up. Best advice, park a few blocks away and walk to the parade route along Tejon, it’s going to be great weather.
KOAA-TV, News5 will be well represented, as a bunch of our folks from news, production, sales, and management will be riding on the News5 float. So say “hi” when they walk by.
Happy St. Patrick’s Day everybody! The day when everyone is Irish.
