Firefighters from Philippines training in southern Colorado

COLORADO SPRINGS – Fire crews from the Philippines are in southern Colorado for training.

Thursday they were working with local fire agencies and Fountain Police at an abandoned house off CNS Road.

One of the chiefs told News 5 they’ve been here two weeks learning and Thursday was about the hands on training.

“It’s an opportunity for us to enhance our capability, knowledge and skills in responding to hazmat incidents,” Chief Jeremy Diaz said.

He said they also learned how to identify chemicals used in homemade explosives which he said are prevalant in their country.
