ASPEN – A 9-year-old boy was hospitalized after falling 31 feet from a chairlift at a Colorado ski resort over the weekend.

The boy has been released and is back home with his family recovering, said Aspen Skiing Co. spokesman Jeff Hanle on Tuesday.

Aspen Daily News reports the incident happened Saturday at Aspen Highlands.

The boy was in an Aspen Valley Ski and Snowboard Club program when he fell from the Thunder Bowl lift just past Tower 1.

Hanle said the boy was riding the lift with another kid when he fell.
