CSPD accepting cadet academy applications

COLORADO SPRINGS- The Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD) is looking to teach the next generation of police officers.

The department is now accepting applications for its Spring 2019 Cadet Academy.

Participants must be between the ages of 14-20.

Other qualifications include a 2.0 GPA, live in El Paso County, enrolled or graduated from a school in the county, and they must pass a background check.

The academy runs every Saturday from April 13th to May 11th, 9:00 a.m.- 4:00 p.m.

According to CSPD, the program will give cadets training in all facets of law enforcement.

This could include evidence collection, interview techniques, and criminal investigations to name a few.

For participants 16 and up, the program will also allow them to ride along with CSPD officers.

The deadline to apply is Thursday, March 7th at 3:00 p.m.
