COLORADO SPRINGS -Colorado Springs Police arrested a 39-year-old man after a woman said she was kidnapped, assaulted and robbed Thursday morning.
A woman told police that she was driving west on Highway 24 around 7:22 a.m. when a man, identified as Clarence Pate, 39, flagged her down. She said the man got in the vehicle and he began acting violently when they reached Academy Blvd.
When she tried to get out of the car with her keys, she said he pulled her back into the vehicle. The woman struggled and got out of the vehicle, and that’s when police said the suspect tried to throw her into traffic.
AMR paramedics driving by the scene saw the encounter and stopped to help. That’s where police said Pate assaulted one of the medics. The paramedic suffered minor injuries in the exchange and Pate was arrested shortly afterward.
The woman also suffered minor injuries.
He was arrested for kidnapping, robbery and assault.
