COLORADO SPRINGS – A Colorado Springs police officer was injured when a suspect kicked him Tuesday night during an arrest on the north side of the city.

Police said they responded to a disturbance call near the Bass Pro Shops near I-25 and North Gate a little after 10 p.m. Tuesday. Officers said they learned the suspect had an active warrant out for the suspect, 21-year-old Tryvone Brooks.

Police said they found him at a nearby business in the area, but when officers made contact with Brooks, police said he “resisted arrest by kicking at officers.”

CSPD said the officer’s injuries were minor, and he continued to work after eventually arresting him.

Brooks was arrested for second-degree assault on a police officer, obstruction as well as the outstanding warrant.
