Pueblo County Sheriff wants to give you a college scholarship

PUEBLO COUNTY – Pueblo County Sheriff Kirk Taylor is looking to make a little easier for Pueblo County students to get through college.

Taylor announced Tuesday that the County Sheriffs of Colorado Inc. will award a $1,000 scholarship to a deserving Pueblo County student. Scholarship announcements have already been mailed to all high school offices and to all state higher education institutions.

This is the 41st year that the County Sheriffs of Colorado had made this scholarship available. Applications will be graded by a local citizens’ committee. The winner will be selected based on leadership, merit, character and involvement and career purpose. Any legal permanent resident of Pueblo county is eligible to apply.

Applications are available online at www.csoc.org. Applications are due by Feb. 22.

Sheriff’s in Bent, Costilla, Crowley, Custer, Las Animas and Otero Counties are also giving out similar scholarships. Applications for those counties can also be found at www.csoc.org.
