FREMONT COUNTY – The University of Kansas has just bought land outside of Canon City for the school’s Geology Department.

The school bought the 600 acres of land known as Blue Ridge from the landowner for $360,000.

The owner recently decided to sell and K.U. decided to buy the land because they feared the new owners would not allow students on the property.

The land has been used since 1922 to teach a six-week field camp class.
