PUEBLO – The Pueblo Nature and Wildlife Center is dealing with hundreds of dollars in damage. Someone used a front loader to plow through a fee station overnight Monday.
A manager says police are ruling it an accident but money is missing from the station. No word on how much was taken.
“Well, you know, it is frustrating,” says Diana Miller. “As a nonprofit, the receipts are used to fund our activities with education for children an caring for wildlife as well as providing services to the public like picnic tables access to the river trail system and parking, bathroom that kind of stuff so it is what keeps our doors open.”
In addition to paying for repairs, the center will also have to come up with more money to re-enforce its fee stations so the thieves don’t strike again.
