PUEBLO – Homelessness is an ongoing problem in Pueblo, but the city government is taking steps to solve it.

“We had an issue last year with running of a warming shelter,” said Lee Gladney, commission member.

The Home of Heroes wants to put together a commission on homelessness. City Council still has to vote to approve the group on Monday. If it is approved, the commission’s first order of business is finding a permanent overnight shelter.

“Once we get that squared away then we can start really focusing on the folks that are trying to do better and trying to get a leg back up in the community,” Gladney said.

The group is made up of different resources in Pueblo, including the city and county governments and business owners and other organizations.
